Promthep Cape is one of Phuket’s most iconic viewpoints, offering two main photo spots that showcase its stunning natural beauty.
The first is the upper viewpoint, where visitors can enjoy a wide panoramic view of the ocean, dramatic cliffs, and golden sunsets. The second is the lower viewpoint at the tip of the cape, a unique vantage point with striking scenery that feels more immersive and adventurous. Both locations provide incredible opportunities for portraits, couple shoots, and landscape photography.
Although the lower viewpoint requires a bit of effort—the path is steep and can be challenging—the breathtaking views make every step worth it. Tourist crowds are usually moderate, allowing photographers more freedom to create without heavy congestion.
Safety Warning:
It is strongly discouraged to stand on the rocks near the waterline. Waves at this location can be unpredictable and extremely powerful. There have been multiple incidents of visitors being swept into the sea, and there are no lifeguards on duty in this area. Please exercise extreme caution and prioritize safety during your shoot.
Best time for photos: Late afternoon to sunset
Perfect for: Couples, portraits, pre-wedding, adventure-style shoots, landscape photography
Why it’s special: Wide-open horizons, dramatic cliffs, unique lower viewpoint
